I reinstalled the application following the steps on Installation and this is the error I get now

This means session directory on your server is not writable.
This directory is used by php to save session data. Usually this type of directory is writable to php by default but apparantlyl on your server it is not.
Looks like your session data is saved in the /var/lib/php5, so you need to set writable permission for this directory.
